Mission Statement
A project designed to spread awareness of resources for those with a mental illness or struggling with a mental health crisis at St. Norbert College.
Scope of Practice
Volunteers within our organization are students of St Norbert College who offer referral and support while being referred. This means we can supply information and help students get to professional resources. No member of this organization is a triage or crisis counselor nor provides psychological or medical care as a part of our program.
How We Do It
Members of our student organization go through training carried out through a partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services at St. Norbert. This training helps the members to be more knowledgable about mental health resources both on campus and in the surrounding community. These resources were compiled to fit on a business card that these volunteers carry with them on campus and pass out, should a student ask for one. Our members are highlighted as being advocates for mental health by a lime green bandana that they wear while on campus, signifying that they are a safe, confidential person to go to for help. Not only does this make the information more accessible to the students (because lets be real, students talk to students a lot) but it also helps fight the stigmas of mental illness by by becoming a very strong, silent symbol for solidarity with those who are struggling. |
How To Get Involved
All current students of St. Norbert College are welcome to join the movement, all they need to do is complete our orientation and abide by our bylaws. No dues are collected for this student organization. In order to sign up for an orientation, students should proceed to the "Join the Movement" page on this site and fill out the form.
